The Mental Health First Aid for Rural Communities Community-specific Course builds upon the effectiveness of the standard Mental Health First Aid curriculum by focusing on the unique experiences and needs of populations in Rural Communities. This course is intended to blend with Version 2.0 of the adult/“core” Mental Health First Aid course.
The Rural Communities Curriculum is recommended for instructors who teach at least two courses per year to these audiences, and who have been oriented to the curriculum materials. Upon completion of this training, you will have access to digital resources that present a reframing of the Version 2.0 Adult Mental Health First Aid course for instructors to better work with those specific audiences.
Instructors are required to teach a minimum of two courses in the foundation Adult Mental Health First Aid curriculum prior to obtaining any community-specific course designations. Instructors must also have knowledge and experience with the target audience.
NOTE: Instructors currently teaching Adult MHFA for Rural Communities Version 1.0 were automatically enrolled in Version 2.0 in MHFA Connect free of charge. Please check your enrollments on your Connect Dashboard to complete the updates course. You do not need to purchase this update.
